WYOMING (WWJ) -- The holiday weekend turned tragic for a West Michigan family after two brothers went swimming in a pond, and one of them drowned.
First responders arrived on Sunday night at a park in Wyoming -- just south of Grand Rapids -- after receiving a report that two swimmers had started to struggle in the pond.
As authorities arrived at the park, a Good Samaritan was pulling the two brothers, ages 10 and 11, from the water.
The 10-year-old was unconscious but breathing, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, where he is expected to recover.
The 11-year-old was not breathing and didn't have a pulse. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The situation remains under investigation by authorities.
