15-year-old girl riding E-bike is killed in crash in Port Huron

PORT HURON (WWJ) -- A young girl has died after crashing on an E-bike in Port Huron.

Officials said officers responded to calls about a crash at 10 p.m. Monday, in the 2800 block of Electric Avenue.

According to investigators, a 15-year-old girl was riding her E-bike in the wrong direction when she was hit by a car.

The teen was rushed to a hospital, where she died from her injuries.

It's not clear if the girl was wearing a helmet or if the E-Bike had lights on.

The driver involved remained on the scene and is cooperating with police.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the young girl's family, friends, and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss," said Chief of Police Brian Kerrigan, in a statement. “This is a devastating incident for everyone involved."

This investigation is ongoing.
