
GRANDVILLE (WWJ) Troopers with the Michigan State Police (MSP) Grand Rapids Post are seeking the public’s help to determine the circumstances leading to a 16-year-old boy lying dead on a freeway.
According to MSP officials; he died on Saturday, July 5, around 11:50 p.m. The boy was found on the eastbound side of I-196 near the 44th Street overpass in Grandville, immediately southwest of Grand Rapids.
Police said the Grandville-area teen had brown hair; and wore a white T-shirt, gray basketball shorts, and white Nike shoes.
“It appears the teen had been struck by a vehicle,” MSP Sixth District officials said in a social media statement. “Tragically, when first responders arrived on scene, (he) had already passed away.”
Troopers are seeking witnesses who can shed light on how he ended up on the freeway, or describe any vehicles that may be involved.
