16-year-old girl killed in fiery crash in Macomb Township

She died after a SUV crashed into the disabled vehicle she was in.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- A 16-year-old girl died in a fiery crash in Macomb Township, sheriffs' officials said.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened on Saturday, June 13, around 1:45 a.m. on Fairchild near 22 Mile Rd.


Authorities told WWJ a Lincoln MKX struck a disabled Chevy Malibu on the northbound side of Fairchild. The Chevy Malibu caught on fire and "became engulfed in flames". The driver and two passengers exited the Malibu.



Sheriff's officials said a 16-year-old girl was trapped in the rear seat of the disabled vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Chevy Malibu and a passenger were taken to the hospital. A passenger in the Lincoln MKX was also hospitalized. Their conditions were not released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
