16-year-old boy found on Detroit playground with gunshot wound to head, no arrests made

DETROIT (WWJ) A 16-year-old Detroit boy was found fatally shot at a playground on the city's northwest side.

Police said the teen was found unresponsive at the Butzel Playground with a gunshot wound to the head. It happened on Saturday, August 23, around 8:15 p.m. at the park on Monte Vista-- in the area of Meyers and Fenkell.

Paramedics rushed him to a local hospital where he passed away.

Detroit Police Homicide Detectives are investigating his death. Authorities said no suspects are in custody at this time.

No information was released about a possible motive.
