
DETROIT (WWJ) - A road closure for a portion of Mack Avenue in Wayne County is in effect until 8 a.m. Friday as police investigate an overnight shooting that allegedly killed a 17-year-old male.
The Detroit Police Department confirmed with WWJ that officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert after gunfire was detected in the area of Mack and Balfour, near the border with Grosse Pointe Park, in the early morning hours of Feb. 16.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a deceased 17-year-old male with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle.
So far, there is no word on any suspects or a motive.
Grosse Pointe Park Police told WWJ they are assisting DPD with the road closure as detectives continue to investigate.
Mack Avenue remains closed from Haverhill to Nottingham with Balfour, Berkshire, and Buckingham all closed at Mack Ave.
"Please seek an alternate route," authorities stated in a public alert. "This closure is expected to last until 8 a.m."
No other details have been released. Additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
