STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- An 18-year-old man is hospitalized after a shooting Friday morning in Sterling Heights, and police say they used FLOCK cameras to track down the suspect.
At around 5:30 a.m., Sterling Heights and Utica police officers responded to the scene on eastbound Hall Road, west of Schoenherr, on reports of a shooting.
The victim was taken by EMS to a local hospital for treatment. There is no update on his condition at this time.
Following witness tips and tracking data from Flock Automated License Plate Reader technology, neighboring departments were alerted to the suspect's vehicle.
Milford Police officers located the car parked at a Kroger on Highland Avenue, where they took the suspect into custody without incident.
Police said officers recovered firearms, body armor, and additional evidence before turning the suspect and vehicle over to the Sterling Heights PD.
While there's no information at this time about what led to the shooting, police said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
No names were released, with expected charges pending.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
