TAYLOR (WWJ) -- A manhunt has ended Downriver after police say a man wanted in a shooting over the weekend turned himself in.
According to Taylor Police, shots were fired early Saturday morning, near the intersection of Pardee and Wick roads.
To people were injured, but both are expected to be OK.
Detective Matt Scott said the suspect, 19-year-old Joseph Garcia, fled the scene on foot but presented himself at the police department on Monday.
"We did interview him, and he did admit to the shooting incident itself," Scott told WWJ's Miranda Richardson. "So, we were able to submit charges on him today. We haven't heard back from the prosecutor's office yet, but we should hear back from them either tonight, or first thing in the morning."
Scott said the two victims were unarmed, and the suspect's handgun has not yet been recovered.
As for what led to the gunfire, Scott said the suspect and the two victims knew each other and had all been at a house party before the shooting. Investigators have been speaking with people who were at that party.
He said security video from a nearby business is assisting in the investigation, and that the suspect has mentioned self-defense.
"He said self-defense, but the video does not show any type of assault or threat that we're aware of, or which would prompt us to believe self-defense," Scott said.
He added that alcohol is believed to be a factor.
Anyone with information about the shooting should call the Taylor PD at 734-287-6611.
