DETROIT (WWJ) -- Just in time for the holidays, 2,000 turkeys are being given away in Detroit to those in need.
Second Ebenezer Church will host the drive-thru event on Friday morning in partnership with the Detroit Towing Association -- a non-profit which works with local police organizations.

Bishop Edgar Vann, who will serve as co-Grand Marshal of America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with former Lions all-star Calvin Johnson, tells WWJ that the church does its best to help out the Detroit community during pandemic times and otherwise.
“We look at the opportunity to help provide or strengthen the safety net just as we have done during the pandemic, even in these times where we are hoping the pandemic is beginning to fade,” Vann said. “And yet we understand that the physical needs of so many are still so very great.”
The giveaway, along with a tow truck parade, is set for Friday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. through noon.
The Second Ebenezer Church is located on Detroit’s east side at 14601 Dequindre Street.
