(WWJ) Two suspects are custody after authorities raided a pair of smoke shops in Macomb County, and seized illegal drugs.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office said, following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Enforcement Team (SET), warrants were executed Monday at two Area 51 Hookah and Tobacco locations: on Gratiot Ave. in Mount Clemens and on Harper in Clinton Township, along with a home in Eastpointe.

In total, officials 600 grams of Psilocybin mushrooms (shrooms) and around 10 pounds of marijuana were seized, as well as two rifles, three pistols, two vehicles — a Chevy Silverado and a Jeep Wagoneer — and $22,756 in cash.

A 33-year-old Clinton Township man and a 44-year-old Eastpointe man were arrested.

The suspects were lodged in the Macomb County Jail where they await an arraignment, expected to take place Wednesday. Their names were not immediately released.

Under U.S. federal law, Psilocybin mushrooms are illegal to possess, obtain, or produce without a license or exemption. Specifically, Psilocybin is classified as a schedule III drugs under the Controlled Substances Act. While Psilocybin has not been legalized in Michigan, some cities have taken steps to decriminalize or deprioritize enforcement of possession of psilocybin for personal use.
