VAN BUREN TWP. (WWJ) - Two separate crashes at the same intersection in Wayne County injured multiple people on Friday morning, including a bicyclist, officials said.
Police told WDIV they initially were conducting an investigation of a reported vehicle-bicycle crash in the area of Ecorse and Belleville roads just before 7 a.m. when another serious crash occurred.
Officials responding to the first crash concluded a vehicle collided with a bicyclist. The bicyclist sustained 'serious injuries" and was rushed to a local hospital.
The victim is said to be in critical condition, as reported by WDIV.
A few hours later, just before 9:30 a.m., police on scene witnessed another crash at the same intersection, this time between two commercial vehicles.
Unconfirmed reports say one person was ejected as a result of the crash and another report said the crash was fatal -- WWJ has not confirmed that information with authorities at this hour and is working to learn more.
It is believed that the people involved in both collisions are all adults.
The crashes remain under police investigation -- no other details were made available.
