2 critically injured when driver crosses median into oncoming traffic on M-59 near Dequindre/John R

(WWJ) Two people are hospitalized after a serious crash on M-59 in Oakland County Monday morning.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened just after 5:30 a.m., along M-59 near Dequindre and John R roads.

Investigators said the driver of a GMC Sierra was headed westbound on M-59 when he or she crossed over to the eastbound lane, crashing into two eastbound vehicles.

One of those vehicles was driven by a woman who was not seriously injured and was able to leave the scene, according to the sheriff's office.

The driver of the other vehicle that was hit, a Ford Taurus, was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Official said the Ford driver was a man, but his age and city of residents are unknown at this time.

The Sierra driver was also injured and taken to a local hospital in critical condition. No details about the driver have been released.

Eastbound M-59 was closed for hours at Rochester Road for the investigation.

An investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Crash Investigation Unit is ongoing.
