LAPEER COUNTY (WWJ) - Two men are dead after their vehicles collided head-on in Lapeer County on Thursday evening, authorities confirmed.
According to the Almont Police Department, the double-fatal crash occurred just before 7 p.m. on Van Dyke between Bordman and Hough Roads.
Police said a 67-year-old male driver behind the wheel of a Dodge Ram truck was traveling northbound on Van Dyke when he crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a Chevy Tahoe driven by a 91-year old man from Rochester.
Both drivers were the sole occupants in their vehicles, police added. The two men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are still working to find out what caused the driver to veer into oncoming traffic, but no further information has been released.
Speeding and drunk driving are not suspected in the crash, the department said.
An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
