2 drivers dead, 4 passengers in critical condition after fiery crash in Allen Park Tuesday night

ALLEN PARK (WWJ) -- Two people was killed and four more were critically injured in a crash Downriver Tuesday night.

According to Allen Park Police, the crash involved two vehicles near the intersection of Ecorse Rd. and Pelham, at around 11 p.m. on April 8.

Responding officers found that a Ford sedan had been hit by a Ford SUV, and was pushed into a building near the 19000 block of Ecorse Road.

The driver of the sedan, identified as a 20-year-old Allen Park woman, was pronoucned dead at the scene.

Three passengers were able to get out of the SUV, which was on fire, and were lying on the ground nearby.

Firefighters tried to save the SUV driver, an unidentified man, but he was unconscious and trapped in the burning vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The three SUV passengers and one sedan passenger were all taken to a local hospital where they were listed in critical condition, police said.

Detectives spoke with witnesses, and are now working to get video footage to help determine what led to the crash.

Police added, in a news release: "The Allen Park Police Department is not releasing the names of the victims or passengers involved in the crash to respect the families who have been affected by this tragedy."
