WARREN (WWJ) -- Two young people are facing attempted murder, carjacking and other charges in connection with the theft of a four-wheeler and a shooting in Warren.
The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office on Monday announced the case against 20-year-old Larry Moses, Jr,, and his 15-year-old alleged accomplice, whose name was not released.
According to investigators, on Friday, May 31, the pair when to a home where a man was selling a four-wheeler. One of the defendants pointed a gun at the seller, prosecutors said, and the pair sped away on the stolen vehicle.
When the four-wheeler's owner followed in his truck, the defendants allegedly shot at him multiple times.
No injuries were reported.
The juvenile was charged with the following: Carjacking, a life felony, Assault with Intent to Murder, a life felony, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, a five year felony, and Felony Firearm, a two year mandatory felony.
Moses, Jr. was charged with: Carjacking, a life felony, Assault with Intent to Murder, a life felony, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, a five year felony, Felony Firearm, a two year mandatory felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, a five year felony. Moses is also being charged as a habitual second offender.
Both were arraigned in Warren District Court on Monday where bond was set at $1 million each, no 10%.
"Their decision to carjack an innocent victim at gunpoint and subsequently open fire on him reflects a disregard for human life and the safety of our community," said Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido, in a statement. "We will ensure they are held accountable for their violent actions and to send a clear message that such crimes will not be tolerated."
Both defendants will be back in court for a probable cause conference scheduled for June 20, to be followed by a preliminary exam on June 27.
