DETROIT (WWJ) -- Two people are dead and two others are hospitalized after a car crashed into an abandoned building in Detroit.
According to Detroit Police, all four people were in the same vehicle, headed northbound on Gratiot Ave., near French Rd., when they crashed into the old Nationwide Furniture warehouse.
"The collision knocked a hole in this cinderblock building," reported Charlie Langton, who was on the scene early in the morning.
Two people were pronoucned dead at the scene.
The other two were rushed to a local hospital where one was listed in critical condition and the other in stable condition.
Police said this was a single-car crash, although it's unclear at this time exactly caused the driver to veer off the roadway.
"No details were given other than speed as the cause," said Langton. "You can see the tracks from Gratiot."
Family members told Langton that the two killed were brother and sister. The brother was visiting from Up North and had only been in town for a day.
No names have been released.
