MACKINAC COUNTY (WWJ) – Two people are dead and four others are injured after a crash caused by nasty winter weather in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula on Saturday.

The Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened along U.S. Route 2, about 13 miles west of St. Ignace, just north of the Mackinac Bridge, according to a report from MLive.

Authorities say high winds, blowing snow and slippery roads caused a driver to crash into another vehicle.

Two people from Ohio, who were both passengers in the vehicle, were killed. Four others were left hospitalized. Their ages and conditions were not disclosed.

Police officials say the crash remains under investigation.
