GIBRALTOR (WWJ) - Downriver police are putting out a warning to parents after two suspects attempted to snatch a stroller containing a young child right from the hands of its mother on Wednesday evening.
According to police, the mother was pushing her infant child in a stroller down the sidewalk when a black or dark-colored SUV pulled off to the side of the road and two occupants got out and approached the woman and her baby.
The pair tried to grab the stroller and the child from the woman, but were unsuccessful, police added. The men got back into the vehicle and left the scene without further incident.
The suspects were described as white males in their 30s and dressed in all black, police said.
"The Gibraltar Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the subjects or possibly the vehicle," police said in a prepared statement. "Anyone in the area between 8:55PM and 9:30PM may be able to help with this investigation."
Information related to the incident can be submitted to the Gibraltar Police Dispatch at 734-676-1022 with the Reference Case # 2022-03924.
