DETROIT (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway after the second freeway shooting in a week on Detroit's east side.

According to the Michigan State Police, the latest shooting happened just before 1 a.m. Tuesday on westbound I-94 near Dickerson Ave. That's just west of the Outer Drive/Chalmers exit, near the Chandler Park golf course.

Two people were shot and rushed to the hospital, police said. Their conditions are not known at this time.

MSP said there are no suspects in custody.

There's also no word on what led up to the shooting, as troopers are still investigating the circumstances.

Westbound I-94 was shut down for several hours as troopers searched for evidence on the freeway, but all lanes reopened to traffic just before 4 a.m.

This comes after a person was shot and wounded on eastbound I-94 near Harper the morning of Friday, June 5. That shooting also remains under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed these incidents, or who has information related to either shooting is asked to call MSP at 1-855-MICHTIP (1-855-642-4847).
