RAISINVILLE TWP. (WWJ) -- Two teenagers are dead after a shooting in Monroe County.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, gunfire rang out at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday on Heiss Road near Steffas in Raisinville Township, which is west of Monroe.

That's where deputies found a male and female outside a car with gunshot wounds. Both appeared to be teens, the sheriff's office said, and both were pronounced dead on the scene.

An investigation continues into what led up to the shooting but the sheriff's office said there is not believed to be any danger to the public.

"Sheriff's detectives are actively investigating this incident," according to Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough, in a news release Tuesday afternoon.

Officials noted there is no connection between this shooting and a similar one on Saturday in Bedford Township in which a man and woman were found dead. The Bedford case was found to be a murder-suicide, according to the sheriff's office.

Sheriff Goodnough said more information will be released about the Raisinville case one it becomes available.
