
HOWELL (WWJ) -- An accident at a construction site near Howell Thursday afternoon has left two workers in critical condition.
The Livingston County Sheriff's Office said the victims were at a construction site near Latson and Grand River, at around 12:30 p.m., when the boom from a concrete truck, hit a power line which fell into the workers.
Livingston County Sheriff Mike Murphy the power line remained energized, shocking both men, and 911 was called.
Speaking to WWJ Newsradio 950's Jon Hewett, Murphy described how it happened.
"A cement pumper truck struck a utility wire," Murphy said. "When the pumper tube hit the wire, the guy on the truck was electrocuted. That caused the line to break, which came down on the guy that was unloading the cement."
The sheriff said both men were take by EMS to University of Michigan Hospital, where they were listed in critical condition.
Details about the men, including their names and hometowns, have not been released.
Deputies were assisted on the scene by a crew from DTE Energy, the sheriff's office said.
The investigation has been turned over to the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA).
