SUMPTER TWP. (WWJ) -- A young woman is dead after being shot at a mobile home park in Wayne County.
Just after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sumpter Township Police responded to a report of a shooting on Edgewood Drive, within the Rawsonville Woods Mobile Home Community.
Officers found a 20-year-old woman lying in the street, police said. She had been shot in the chest.
First responders tried to help the woman, but she was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police said the suspected shooter — a man — is in custody and two other people were also detained for questioning.
There's no word on what led up to the gunfire, but police said the victim and the shooter knew each other, and there is no threat to the community.
No names have been released, as the investigation continues.
