(WWJ) -- Primary Elections results are in for metro Detroit!
Dearborn
In one of the most competitive mayoral primary elections in Dearborn’s history, State Representative Abdullah Hammoud topped the field, with over 40% of the vote.
Gary Woronchak claimed the second spot with a slight lead over the other candidates, but still significantly trailed Hammoud, receiving just 18% of the vote.
Incumbent Mayor John O'Relly decided against running for re-election due to health issues.
Detroit
In Detroit, Mayor Mike Duggan won 73% of the vote, trailed by Anthony Adams who received 10%.
Coleman Young II and incumbent Council member Janeé Ayers were the top two vote-getters in the race for the at-large city council seats. The top four finishers move on to the November election.
Reporter M.L. Elrick will also move onto the November election in Detroit’s 4th District City Council race.
Meanwhile, voters rejected a ballot proposal that called for changes to the city charter.
Proposal P received 22,696 for passage, while 46,707 people voted against it on Tuesday.
The proposal called for the creation of several new city departments, which would restructure the police and fire departments, and link water rates and public transportation fares to income.
Opposers said it could have increased spending by the city, which could lead to another bankruptcy if left unmonitored.
Pontiac
Candidate Tim Greimel placed first in the Pontiac mayoral race, while the write-in campaign of the city's incumbent Mayor Deirdre Waterman came up short to qualify for the runoff.
Voters in Pontiac also approved Proposal A, allowing the city to form a charter revision commission. The proposal failed when it first came to the ballot two years ago.
Taylor
Early results in the Taylor mayoral election have State Rep. Alex Garza in the lead with 35% of the vote.
City Council Chair Tim Woolley is in second place with just over 22%, while Jeff Jones and incumbent Mayor Rick Sollars -- running as a write-in -- are close behind with 22% and 21%, respectively.
Westland
Westland Mayor William Wild received more than 64% of the vote, and Tasha Green grabbed the second spot with 24%.
In the race for city council, Jim Hart, Peter Herzberg, Jim Godbout, and Debra Fowlkes were the top vote-getters.
Macomb County
It was a close race to fill the seat of Pete Lucido, which opened when he became Macomb County Prosecutor.
Republican state representative Douglas Wozniak was the top vote-getter among seven GOP candidates in the race. He’ll now face off against Democrat Martin Robert Genter in a special election.
