DETROIT (WWJ) -- A decades-old holiday event in Detroit isn't happening this year
The popular Noel Night is being put on hiatus this year. That's according to the organizers, Midtown Detroit, Inc. They say the event, which first began in 1973, is being put on hold in order for them to better plan and ensure the night remains sustainable in the future.
Midtown Detroit, Inc spoke with retailers, organizations, and other business owners before making the decision.
"After listening to input from retailers, cultural institutions, and community partners, we are using this year to align the event with a broader organizational vision that continues to emphasize inclusivity, cultural vibrancy, and sustainability. This pause is not an end, but an investment in ensuring Noel Night continues to celebrate Detroit’s diversity, creativity, and community spirit for generations to come."
Noel Night is a city-wide event highlighting nearby museums; as well as a growing number of bars and restaurants in the area. Tens of thousands of people attend every year.
