(WWJ) 2026 will start with bitter cold and snow in Metro Detroit.
Snow will start falling Wednesday evening, New Years Eve, and make roads slippery, according to AccuWeather. An inch of snow is expected in some areas.
Temperatures will be in the teens when the new year starts, but the wind chill will range from zero to five, according the the National Weather Service.
For New Years Day there will be some flurries with partly cloudy skies and cold. The high will reach the low 20's, but it will feel like the single digits because of the wind.
Lake effect snow will continue into the new year in northern lower Michigan, with 8-10 inches of snow expected in the typical snow belts, according to the National Weather Service in Gaylord.
