VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP (WWJ) A 21-year-old Van Buren Township man died in a two-car crash, police said.
The Van Buren Township Department of Public Safety said the crash happened on Wednesday, August 19, around 6:00 a.m. in the area of Haggerty and Tyler roads.
Authorities told WWJ the crash involved a 36-year-old Taylor man driving his SUV (a Chevrolet Traverse) west on Tyler, and a car (a Chevrolet Impala) traveling north on Haggerty. The SUV slammed into the car at the intersection.
First responders pronounced a 21-year-old Van Buren Township man dead at the scene. He's identified as Zachary Sikora.
They rushed the Taylor man to Trinity Hospital Ann Arbor, where he's listed in stable condition.
The Van Buren Township Accident Investigation Team investigated at the scene, including collecting data and securing physical evidence.
Investigators have not indicated whether alcohol, speed or distracted driving may have been factors.
