OAKLAND COUNTY (WWJ) - A large, localized power outage in Northville Township and Novi is affecting 3,320 DTE customers after the energy company said damage caused by trees caused lights to go dark Saturday morning.

Homes and businesses in the area near Eight Mile and Beck and Sheldon are in the crosshairs of the power outage, which was reported right before 8 a.m.

DTE said over 100 crews were out in the field and were working to resolve the situation; the company said power is expected to be restored around 4 this afternoon.

The company said damage caused by a tree was responsible for the outage.

WWJ traffic reporter Marty Bufalini said the lights are out in both directions on 8 Mile along Novi Road to Beck.

"Please be careful at all those intersections where there are traffic signals," Bufalini said.
