DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police is working to uncover what led to a shooting inside a former weed dispensary after three victims were identified in Dearborn Heights on Friday afternoon.

The Dearborn Heights Police Department confirmed they were initially involved in the incident after officers were called to the area of Warren Avenue and Lamphere Street in a northern area of the city after receiving reports of a shooting around 3:45 p.m. on Oct. 13.

In the beginning, it was reported three victims were shot as they were in vehicles driving down Warren Avenue in Dearborn Heights, the department said.

But as Dearborn Heights and officers with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated, they found the shooting actually happened at a former marijuana dispensary building in the 22300 block of Warren Avenue in Detroit.

Authorities determined the threat was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public at this time.

Dearborn Heights police said the case was handed over to the Detroit Police Department where investigators are continuing to investigate.

Anyone with questions or information about the shooting has been asked to contract Detroit police at (313) 596-2200.
