
CANTON (WWJ) — Three young men are facing a long list of charges for a string of car thefts across Metro Detroit.
The Canton Police Department announced Tuesday that Brandon Blackshire, 21, Dawayne Crutchfield, 20, and Demetrius Winkfield, 21, were arrested on March 20 while in possession of a stolen car.
The men were arrested in Allen Park and the car was stolen out of Northville Township, officials said. Crutchfield and Winkfield were also in possession of illegal guns. Officials did not specify what type of vehicle was stolen or when it was taken.
Crutchfield also had a warrant for his arrest in connection with a vehicle theft in Canton in 2022, according to police.
Blackshire was charged with:
• One count of receiving and concealing a motor vehicle
• One count of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer
• Habitual offender – fourth offense notice
Winkfield was charged with:
• One count of receiving and concealing a motor vehicle
• One count of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer
• One count of carrying a concealed weapon
• One count of felon in possession of a firearm
• One count of felon in possession of ammunition
• Three counts of felony firearm
• Habitual offender – third offense notice
Crutchfield was charged with:
• One count of receiving and concealing a motor vehicle
• One count of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer
• One count of carrying a concealed weapon
• One count of felon in possession of a firearm
• One count of felon in possession of ammunition
• Three counts of felony firearm
• Habitual offender – second offense notice
For the 2022 case, he was also charged with one count unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle and one count of receiving and concealing a motor vehicle
All three men were arraigned on March 21 and given a $50,000 bond and ordered to wear a GPS tether. Their next court date is scheduled for April 22. Crutchfield’s next court date for the 2022 case is scheduled for April 5.
