PORT HURON (WWJ) – Three stores in Port Huron are in trouble with the law after an undercover sting on underage alcohol sales.
The Port Huron Police Department carried out the sting operation on Tuesday, sending underage decoys into 32 stores licensed to sell alcohol by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission across the city.
Of those businesses, officials say 29 were following the law and refused to sell alcohol to the underage decoys.
Three stores, however, fell into the trap.
Those stores include:
• Pit Stop Party Store at 1635 Pine Grove Ave.
• Kroger at 2907 Krafft Road
• White Cloud Smoke Shop at 1122 10th Street
Authorities say the stores were cited for selling to minors, but it was not clear what punishments they will be facing.
“The Port Huron Police Department would like to thank all of the stores that were found to be in compliance and encourage all licensed establishments to check IDs to prevent the use of alcohol by underage minors,” officials said in a press release.
