3 Michigan State University students killed in mass shooting to receive posthumous degrees this weekend

Three students who died when a mass shooter open fired at Michigan State University nearly three months ago will be honored with posthumous degrees this weekend, officials said.

LANSING (WWJ) - Three students who died when a mass shooter open fired at Michigan State University nearly three months ago will be honored with posthumous degrees this weekend, officials said.

Arielle Anderson, 19, junior from Gross Pointe, Brian Fraser, 20, a sophomore from Grosse Pointe and Alexandria Verner, 20, a junior from Clawson, will be awarded their bachelor's degrees from the students' respective colleges on Saturday, MSU Deputy Spokesperson Dan Olsen said.

The families of the victims will accept the degrees on their behalf, Olsen added.

Anderson and Verner will be given bachelor of science degrees from the College of Natural Science while Fraser will receive a bachelor of arts degree from the Eli Broad College of Business.

MSU graduation ceremonies are set to kick off this week, starting on May 4 and running through the 13th at the Breslin Student Events Center located at 534 Birch Road, and the Wharton Center for Performing Arts at 750 E. Shaw Lane in East Lansing.

"All Michigan State University degree candidates who attend their commencement ceremony are recognized individually for their academic achievement," the school said on their website. "Please help us provide a memorable event for all involved."

Each college within MSU will hold their own ceremonies that run from May 5-7 and May 12-13. More information is available at commencement.msu.edu.
