CADILLAC (WWJ) -- Three teens are facing charges after Michigan State Police say they were caught on their way to deliver some drugs Up North.

The investigation began with a traffic stop at around 12:15 a.m. Thursday, after troopers with the MSP Cadillac Post pulled over a driver for an "equipment violation" on Simons Street near E Chapin St. in Cadillac.

The driver was a 33-year-old Cadillac woman, police said, and there were three teenagers sitting in the backseat.

In speaking with the driver, police said the troopers learned that the woman had picked up the teens — two 18-year-olds and one 17-year-old — from Muskegon.

Given the OK to search the car, police said the troopers found about 3 ounces of methamphetamine hidden in the rear spare tire compartment inside a “Brownie King” box.

One of the teens claimed he was in the area to visit family in Traverse City, MSP said. However, the driver said she was driving them to a house in Cadillac in order for them to deliver the meth.

All three teens claimed they knew nothing about the drugs, police said.

All three teens were arrested.

On Thursday, MSP said additional charges are possible in the case as the investigation continues.
