DETROIT (WWJ) - Two Detroit police officers and one person are recovering from minor injures after a three-wheeled vehicle attempted to escape from a traffic stop on Tuesday evening.
Authorities said officers had stopped trike motorcycle around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Monroe and Beaubien for driving on the sidewalk.
The suspect attempted to flee from officers, authorities said, and knocked down the two cops while trying to drive away.
Surveillance video provided by police appears to show a passenger falling from the back of the vehicle as the driver strikes an object on the corner of the street.
At one point, an officer jumps on to the vehicle before being thrown off; the driver proceeds to speed across the street before crashing into a traffic pole.
The driver was taken into custody shortly after the incident, police confirmed; the officers and the suspected passenger sustained minor injuries and are expected to be okay.
No other information was released by authorities. It is unknown what charges the driver of the three-wheeled vehicle will face.
