
HAMTRAMCK (WWJ) — An investigation is underway after a 3-year-old girl was hit and killed by a school bus in Hamtramck Tuesday afternoon.
Hamtramck police were responded to the area of Burger and Fleming Streets around 3 p.m. Tuesday, where they found the young girl with her mother.
The girl was breathing, but was not responsive, according to police.
Officers gave her medical attention until EMS personnel arrived and took her to Children’s Hospital of Michigan. On the way to the hospital the girl stopped breathing and became unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Fox 2 in Detroit reports the bus driver has been identified. Officials did not say whether they were cooperating.
Police officials have not released any further details about the crash, which remains under investigation.
