BIRMINGHAM (WWJ) -- With an assist from Royal Oak police, Birmingham officers apprehended a group of women believed to have robbed a Lululemon retail outlet, stealing thousands of dollars in clothing.
Birmingham police were dispatched to the popular ath leisure store at Old Woodward and Maple just after 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday to deal with a retail theft report.
Officials say that a trio of women entered the Lululemon, then two of them walked through, collecting a large amount of clothing.
The group then fled the store and jumped in a waiting vehicle along with the stolen merchandise, which was estimated to be worth more than $4,000.
Suspect descriptions and information about their getaway car was sent out to local agencies. Royal Oak patrol officers later stopped the vehicle, which was occupied by four women.
When Birmingham police arrived at the scene of the traffic stop, they confirmed that the ladies were the same individuals involved in the robbery.
All four were arrested, and the stolen clothing was recovered.
At this time, the women stand accused of first-degree retail fraud -- a five-year felony offense.
