LIVONIA (WWJ) -- Livonia Police are investigating the drowning of a 4-year-old boy at a local hotel.
Police told WWJ Newsradio 950 that the 911 call came in just after 7 p.m. Wednesday from Embassy Suites on Victor Parkway, in the area of I-275 and Seven Mile Rd.
First responders performed life-saving measures on the boy, but he died.
Police said they believe that the boy was underwater for 16 minutes before he was spotted by a person who is not a member of his family.
In light of this tragic incident, Livonia Police want to remind everyone that children need constant monitoring and flotation devices whenever they are around water.
It's unclear who was supposed to be watching the child when he drowned, as the investigation continues.
