(WWJ) It's time to light 'em up! Tree lightings and related festivities top our list of fun stuff to do in Detroit and the suburbs this chilly November weekend.

1. 22nd Annual Detroit Tree Lighting
Friday, Nov. 21, 6PM
Campus Martius, Detroit
The holiday season officials begins in Metro Detroit with the lighting of the massive tree in Campus Martius park! Santa will help flip the switch, and then stick around for live entertainment, horse-drawn carriage rides, and more. It's going to be crowded downtown for the popular event, so plan to arrive early, and give yourself plenty of time to park.
2. Lighting of the Park kicks off Royal Oak Holidays
Friday, Nov. 21, 4PM-9PM (then weekends through Sunday, Dec. 21)
Royal Oak Centennial Commons
Five straight weekend of holiday fun kick off in Royal Oak with the lighting of Centennial Commons, including the giant oak tree, at 7PM. Then the festivities continue on the weekends through Sunday, Dec. 21, with ice skating, live music, good food, carriage rides, and shopping. A merger with Winter Blast means favorite activities like the zip line ride, carnival attractions and ice sculptures will also be featured. Admission is free.
3. DSO presents The Billy Joel Songbook
Friday, Nov. 21-Sunday, Nov. 23
Orchestra Hall, Detroit
Join the DSO and vocalist-pianist Tony DeSare for a symphonic celebration of Billy Joel’s most iconic hits. With DeSare’s signature vocals and dynamic piano style, experience the legendary songs of the Piano Man like never before—brought to life with full orchestral arrangements conducted by Enrico Lopez-Yañez. Hear favorites including “Only the Good Die Young,” “Just the Way You Are,” “Piano Man,” “New York State of Mind,” and more in this unforgettable tribute to one of music’s greatest storytellers. 4. Magic of Lights
Friday, Nov. 21-Saturday, Jan. 3
Pine Knob, Clarkston
Pine Knob Music Theatre will once again be transformed into a vibrant winter wonderland featuring a spectacular drive-through light display and enchanting Reindeer Rest Stop — is promoters say it'll be brighter than ever with more than 2 million lights and magnificent scenes — including the animated Mattel’s Waving Christmas Barbie — soar up to 32 feet tall and stretch several hundred feet in length. 5. Blake's Holiday Extravaganza
Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 22-23, and Friday-Sunday, Nov. 28-30)
Blake's Orchard & Cider Mill, Armada
Kick off the holiday magic with a day of shopping, festive cheer, and twinkling lights. It's great place to pick out the perfect Christmas tree or fresh wreath and other holiday decor. And when you're done shopping — relax with cozy igloo dining and hot beverages.
