1. Record Store Day

Record Store Day is this weekend, celebrating the unique culture of nearly 1,400 independent record stores in the U.S. The annual event supports indie retailers with several hundred exclusive releases and various store events, sales, and performances. This year, many Metro Detroit shops have something special planned. Some participating stores around the area include.

2. GreenFest at the Detroit Zoo

GreenFest, the Detroit Zoo’s annual sustainability celebration, returns this weekend for Earth Day! This weekend-long festival features a sustainable vendor market, a variety of green food trucks, live music, education stations and eco-friendly activities including crafts, showcases from local environmental organizations and much more! All GreenFest activities are included in Zoo admission and are free for members.

3. Detroit Festival of Laughs

Get ready for an uproarious evening of laughter at the highly anticipated Detroit Festival of Laughs, coming to Fox Theatre on Friday, April 19 at 8 p.m. The show features a star-studded lineup of renowned comedians, including Sommore, Lavell Crawford, Tony Roberts, Don DC Curry, Coco, and Teddy Carpenter. With their perfect blend of humor and charm, these world-class comedians each bring their own unique comedic style, offering something for everyone.

4. Dequindre Cut Spring Cleanup

Join the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy this weekend for the annual Dequindre Cut Spring Cleanup! Celebrate Earth Day by helping remove litter from the Dequindre Cut Greenway and its surrounding streets. Volunteers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. Those who are under the age of 18 must volunteer with an adult, and all are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring their own work gloves.

5. Downtown Plymouth Spring Artisan Market

The Downtown Plymouth Spring Artisan Market returns this weekend to mark the beginning event season in the city with artisan goods and family friendly entertainment. Held in the heart of Downtown Plymouth, the market features over 50 vendors and nonprofit organizations and is a popular event for both locals and visitors alike. The event showcases a wide variety of unique and high-quality artisanal products, ranging from handcrafted jewelry and pottery to homemade soaps and candles. In addition to the shopping experience, visitors can also enjoy live music, food vendors and more!
