1. America’s Thanksgiving Parade
The 2024 America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Gardner White is proud to make its 98th appearance on Woodward Avenue on Thursday, Nov. 28! Celebrating Smiles of Miles, the Parade features a star-studded line-up of 28 one-a-kind floats, colorful costumes and characters, six high soaring balloons, nine thunderous marching bands from across Southeast Michigan, and dancing elves! The Parade steps off at 8:45 a.m. on Woodward Avenue & Kirby and ends at Woodward Avenue & Congress in Downtown Detroit.

2. Wild Lights
The Detroit Zoo will once again light up the night this winter season with Wild Lights, a dazzling display of holiday decorations! Check out millions of LED lights illuminating trees, buildings and more than 500 immersive displays. Take in the sights and sounds of the season while exploring an enchanted trail. Plus, enjoy live entertainment, experience a 4D movie and grab some food and drinks on the Polar Patio!

3. Eastern Market Holiday Market
Eastern Market Holiday Market is back in 2024! In addition to the Saturday Market that operates year-round, there will be four additional markets for all your holiday shopping needs in 2024 over the next four Sundays. Sunday Markets will feature Michigan-made gift options including clothing, art, jewelry, beauty products, and more. Christmas tree vendors will be in the Eastern Market parking lot outside Sheds 5 and 6, seven days a week starting around Thanksgiving. There are no tickets for this event. It is free and open to all ages.

Wayne County is aglow for the holidays with its annual Lightfest, which is running now through Dec. 31. This beloved Metro Detroit holiday tradition is a magical four-mile stretch of Hines Park that begins at 7651 N. Merriman Road. Pack the whole family in the car and cruise through nearly 50 animated themed displays and more than 100,000 lights. Check out the Wayne County Lightfest this weekend at Hines Park in Westland.

5. How the Grinch Stole Christmas at the Fox Theatre
Audiences will discover the magic of Dr. Seuss’ classic holiday tale as it comes to life live on stage at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, beginning this week. Featuring the hit songs “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas,” THE GRINCH discovers there’s more to Christmas than he bargained for in this heart-warming holiday classic. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming GRINCH, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the holiday-loving Whos.
