(WWJ) While the weather outside is frightful, plenty of folks will be out and about enjoying some winter fun — because that's just what we do!
Here are some of our top picks for holiday events happening in Metro Detroit this weekend (in no particular order) brought to you by WWJ's Don't Miss List with Pat Vitale.
1. Lathrup Village Winter Fest
Friday, Dec. 5. 6-8PM
Lathrup Village City Hall
Bundle up, bring your holiday spirit, and have some fun with family and friends! The public invited for a festive celebration filled with winter activities for all ages — including holiday crafts and games, cookie decorating, delicious seasonal treats, photos with Santa, and more! There will be a tree lighting ceremony, too. Tickets are not required, and admission is FREE.
2. Annual Potters Market
Thursday, Dec. 4-Sunday, Dec. 7
Southfield Pavilion
Anything you can think of made with clay is what you'll find at this unique craft show at the Southfield Pavilion. Organizers say the market features over 30,000 pieces in all price ranges — including sculpture, garden art, wall art, and more. Thursday is Preview Night, with $10 admission at the door. 3. Birmingham Winter Markt
Friday-Sunday, Dec. 5-7
Birmingham Shopping District
Visit downtown Birmingham for displays from local artists and vendors, European cuisine, thousands of holiday lights, ice sculptures, live entertainment, complimentary carriage rides, a children’s activity area, and more! The annual Birmingham Holiday Tree Lighting takes place Friday at 6 p.m., featuring live caroling and an appearance by Santa. (Schedule & map)
4. Holly Days
Saturday, Dec. 6
Downtown Farmington
It's a full day of holiday fun, with the Greens, Gifts and Giving Market starting at 10 a.m., and downtown merchants open for a head start on your shopping! During the day, kids are invited to enjoy free holiday train rides at Riley Park, and stories and crafts with Mrs. Claus at the library. In the evening, it's the Light up the Grand Parade along Grand River Avenue, and tree lighting at the Warner Mansion. (Get the details)
5. Kris Kringle Market
Friday, Dec. 5, 4PM–10PM & Saturday, Dec. 6, 12PM-10PM
W. Fourth & Walnut Blvd. in downtown Rochester
