DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police are investigating an early morning drive-by shooting that injured a young child in Southwest Detroit.
According to Detroit Police, gunfire rang out at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday on Basset Street, in a neighborhood in the area of Schafer and I-75.
Police told WWJ's Charlie Langton a 6-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the knee, and was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
There were no reports of additional injuries.
Officers with a K9 team responded to the scene and searched the area, but there have been no arrests.
"And they still have no information about the shooter or shooters," Langton reported, "and no reason surrounding the circumstances of the shooting."
