(WWJ) Police are searching for suspects after a 7-year-old girl was shot inside her home on Detroit's east side.

The child was sitting on a couch in her home on Bedford, near Outer Drive and Mack, just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when an unknown suspect in a dark colored vehicle drove by and fired shots into the house, police said.

Responding officers took the young girl to a hospital where she was listed in critical condition.

Investigators have since determined the vehicle had circled the area prior to the shooting. After the shooting the suspect fled north on Bedford.

Police believe the vehicle may have been captured on residential surveillance cameras before and/or after the shooting. A video clip (above) was released later Thursday.

There is currently no description of the gunman.

As the investigation continues, it's still unknown if anyone in the house was acquainted with the shooter or if the crime was random.

Police say the circumstances surrounding this incident are still being investigated.
