TAYLOR (WWJ) -- A 7-year-old Downriver girl has died after police say she was stabbed by her older sister.
Taylor Police said they were called out to the scene just after 1 p.m., at a home in the area of Telegraph Rd. and Chestnut, about a domestic disturbance.
The officers found that a 7-year-old girl had been stabbed, and she was rushed to a nearby hospital where she died of her injuries.
The victim's 13 year old sister was taken into custody without incident.
No further details are being released at this time about the kids involved, or what led up to the stabbing.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, adding in a statement: "This is a tragic event for the family, and we are ensuring that the necessary resources are being made available to support everyone involved. We ask the public to respect the family's privacy as we carry out a thorough investigation."
