HIGHLAND TOWNSHIP (WWJ) A 70-year-old Highland Township man drowned after he fell off the dock, sheriff's officials said.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said the drowning occurred on Tuesday, August 18, shortly before 9 p.m. on Ramada Drive, in the area of East Wardlow and Harvey Lake roads.
According to authorities, the man was cleaning his boat when he fell into Duck Lake. His wife saw him go into the water and immediately called 911 after he did not resurface.
Deputies and Highland Township Fire Department personnel found him submerged in the lake between the dock and his boat.
They removed him, brought him to shore, and began CPR and other life-saving measures, according to sheriff's officials.
First responders rushed him to Huron Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Oakland County Medical Examiner determined it an accidental drowning.
