YPSILANTI TWP (WWJ) A woman, 73, was discovered dead in a shallow grave in Washtenaw County.
Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office said their Metro Dispatch received a call for a welfare check around 10:30 a.m. Friday on Warner, in the area of Congress and Mansfield, in Ypsilanti Twp. The family told authorities they were worried about their loved one whom they had not heard from for several days— which was not her “normal routine.”
When the deputy entered the house; they found the missing woman’s grandson, 29, but could not find her.
They investigated inside the home and “exhausted all options,” before moving outside. They found a shallow grave in the backyard with the woman’s body inside, the sheriff’s office said.
Th grandson was taken into custody. He is staying at the Washtenaw County Jail.
The woman's name has not been released.
