PITTSFIELD TWP. (WWJ) -- Authorities in Washtenaw County are investigating after an elderly man was hit by a car and killed, Monday evening.
According to Pittsfield Township Police, first responders were called to Washtenaw and Deake avenues on a report that a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at around 5:30 p.m.
Investigators found that a 83-year-old man was crossing Washtenaw when he was hit by a Ford Explorer, driven by a 45-year-old woman from Temperance.
The man wasn't in a crosswalk at the time of the crash, police said,
He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, but later died. His name was not immediately released.
No one else was hurt.
Authorities said it doesn't appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor. as the investigation continues.
Washtenaw Ave. was closed between Deake Ave. and Torrey Ave. for several hours during the investigation, but has since reopened.
