Police investigating after at least 90 shots fired outside Detroit motorcycle club, wounded security guard taken to hospital

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police are investigating after one man was injured in a shooting outside a motorcycle club on Detroit's west side, early Thursday morning.

Detroit Police said officers were alerted by ShotSpotter technology, at around 5 a.m., to a shooting in the 2500 block of Ewald Cir., near Livernois and the Davison.

"It looks like upwards on 90 gunshots fired here," WWJ's Charlie Langton said, reporting from the scene, where dozen of evidence markers were seen on the pavement.

Police said to vehicles pulled up to the club, and suspects inside started firing at the security guard. The guard then returned fire, and the suspects fled.

Bullet casings were found in two locations: behind a motorcycle club, where police seemed to be focusing their investigation, as well as across the street from the building.

Police said the security guard — identified as a man in his 40s — was shot twice. He was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

People living in the area told Langton this motorcycle club is known as an "after hours" joint. Neighbors were concerned about what happened, but said they hadn't noticed any trouble there in the past.

There have been no arrests in the case.

A motive for the shooting is not known at this time, and there's no information about any suspects.
