BLOOMFIELD TWP (WWJ) – A GoFundMe has been created for a Bloomfield Township firefighter who lost his home in a fire this week.
The Bloomfield Township Firefighters Local 3045, said Lt. Rob Nichols lost his home in a house fire on Monday, March 9.
Lt. Nichols has been with the Bloomfield Township Fire Department for 23 years. His wife, Jennifer, is an elementary school teacher within the Warren Consolidated School district.
According to a GoFundMe set up for the couple, the two built their home with their two teenage children, Alexa and Brycen.
A family friend is now raising money to support the Nichols family as they rebuild their home and replace essential belongings. Much was lost in the fire – including clothes, furniture, personal belongings and more.
As of Tuesday morning, over $10,000 was donated to reach a $13,000 goal.
The GoFundMe has been shared by several police and fire departments, including Bloomfield Township Fire Department, West Bloomfield Police and the Berkley Department of Public Safety.
The couple lived in Macomb Township. Their home caught on fire on Hamlin Lake Dr, near Hall and Romeo Plank Roads, on Monday. Crews from several fire departments responded to the scene.
The fire started in the attached garage and spread to other parts of the home. Fire investigators did not say what started the fire.
