
FRENCHTOWN TWP (WWJ) - A man is in custody after an argument between roommates escalates and leads to gunshots at a home in Frenchtown Township Thursday night.
Monroe County Central Dispatch received a trouble with subject complaint around 8:10 p.m. in the 4100 block of Fifth Street. Moments later, a gunshot had been fired.
When sheriff's deputies arrived on scene, the roommate who made the call had escaped to a neighbor's home.
Officials discovered the incident stemmed from a disagreement that turned into a heated argument.
After deputies surrounded the home, the suspect, a 35-year-old man, came to the front door. As the suspect left the home, deputies noticed he was holding a handgun.
The suspect complied with authorities, dropped the weapon and was taken into custody without further incident.
The 35-year-old has been lodged at the Monroe County Jail on charges of felonious assault, felony firearm, possessing an unregistered firearm and reckless discharge. His name is not being release at this time pending formal arraignment in Monroe County's First District Court.
The incident remains under investigation.
