SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) -- A special event will take place this weekend in Southfield in an effort to fight against hatred and bigotry.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) will hold a “Walk Against Hate” fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 10 at the Southfield City Center on Evergreen Road between I-696 and the Lodge Freeway.

WWJ's Brooke Allen spoke with the organization's executive director Caroline Normandin, who says they felt moved to put on the event in response to what she calls and “escalation of hate and bigotry all over the state [and] country.”
“We’re asking people to take a stand -- and actually, take a walk!” Normandin said. “We’re hoping they walk as individuals and as community members. Bring friends, bring family, and just say that they are standing up against hate.”
Along with the ADL’s efforts in southeastern Michigan, teams in Grand Rapid and Petoskey will also be holding events on Sunday.
The “Walk Against Hate” begins on Sunday at 9 a.m. More details can be found at WalkAgainstHate.org.
